Kings Of Leon, Sunderland SOL, 17 Jun 11

KOL arrived a little late at Sunderland, but they certainly made up for it with a blistering set of mainly old and some new... time restrictions meant that the main set and encore were condensed to one standard content set. This was the first real test for the recently acquired camera - I was stood approximately 50 rows from the front, stage right, so the 14x zoom was put to the test...

Nice bass!

Some more images from the show will be posted soon...

White Lies, Sunderland SOL, 17 Jun 11

The Sunderland show was a double bill as far as I was concerned, with White Lies being a superb support. Seen them a few times now ~ supporting and headlining, but today was probably the biggest crowd that I've seen them front (55,000 capacity). Did they pull it off? Yup. Lots of singing along and some fun in the crowd as people on shoulders became targets for the bottle and glass throwers!

Setist was a mix of the first two albums and flowed very well, opening with "a place to hide"... the traditional concert closer "death" was included within the set this time and the show ended with their probable new anthem "bigger than us"... a subtle nod to KOL?!

Mona, Sunderland SOL, 17 Jun 11

Mona opened the show for Kings of Leon at Sunderlands' Stadium of Light. And jolly good they were too, complete with JD swigging and KOLish sounding set. One to watch me thinks...

Adam Ant, Newcastle O2, 29 May 11

29 years later and I get a second audience with the mighty Adam Ant. What a show. What a night. The venue was packed with aging punks and folk in Prinve Charming fancy dress...

Setlist was storming - loads of punk fueled energy and ant classics, plus a cover of t-rex "get it on" - image below courtasy of http://www.adam-ant.net/2011290511.html

The show completed after almost two hours, Adam t-shirt-less after ripping it off!

Adam & The Ants, Newcastle City Hall, 08 Jan 82

I was extremely fortunate to have attended my first concert as a nine year old, witnessing an amazing performance by the legendary Adam Ant with my Dad and Cousin Rob. We had stall seats very close to the front, stage left in front of Marco!

Adam & the Ants were a massive phenomenon in the early eighties and the tour was extremely theatrical. I've not seen a show like it since...

As a nine year old I didn't make a mentalnot of the setlist, but thankfully I found the show format on 'tinternet...
