Fields of the Nephilim, Brixton Academy, 22 Oct 11

Incredible opener for the Mission XXV concert... we almost missed the set as the queue for the show wrapped the whole of the Brixton Academy! Missed the 'Neph back in the day, so this was a great catch up for us... I don't think I've seen so much use of dry ice in a show!

Massive sound...

Liberal application of flour to hat....

The Horrors, Newcastle Digital, 18 Oct 11

First time at this venue for a band I'd been looking forward to seeing for a long time. Nice dark performance, great sound but back-lighting not in favour for photography. Pah!

Echo and the Bunnymen, York Grand Opera House, 29 Sep 11

It had been a few years since we'd last spent an evening with the Bunnymen, so a chance to hear the whole of the classic "ocean rain" was too tempting to resist...

Cast in 80s shadow, Ian pulled off a great set, with a warm up section of songs including bedbugs and ballyhoo, never stop and rescue.

After a short intermission (toilet break for an aging audience?), ocean rain was performed... epic!

A couple of encores followed the album recital, with nothing lasts forever, lips like sugar and the cutter completing a fantastic evening.

Lighting was pretty much behind Ian McCulloch for the whole show, so photography was vitually impossible!

Can't "do" the cure headlining Saturday nights Bestival... Cousin Rob is there, so look forward to the news of  the line-up and set played.
